Axiam provides a complete line of universal, software-driven circular geometry measurement gauges. The gauges utilize the industry's most sophisticated software to measure and inspect high-value, precision mechanical parts, namely turbine parts (rotors, shafts, bearings & casings). The Axiam GMS-4000 and GMS-5000 series gauges are designed to measure all geometric features as specified by the American National Standards Institute. Axiam's gauges perform dimensional and proprietary measurements developed by the company specifically for high-speed rotating components - especially those
components used in aircraft jet engines and industrial turbines. The gauges incorporate computer-controlled air bearing turn-tables on which each part to be measured resides via gauge tooling. The heart of the GMS-4000 and GMS-5000 series of gauges is the sophisticated software that allows this series to measure within millionths of an inch in accuracy with unexcelled repeatability. Advanced
algorithms, developed at the MIT Metrology Laboratories, form the basis for its geometric measurement capabilities. |

The gauges can simultaneously measure the geometrical relationships of key diameters and faces to each other, for both individual components and complete assemblies. These component measurements are made to an accuracy of 20 millionths of an inch. The gauges measure the relationship of the two mating disc faces and the two mating inside diameters relative to each other. This relationship includes the parallelism of the face (BiPlane Deviation™) and eccentricity of diameters (Centerline Deviation™), measurements unique to Axiam's geometric measurement gauges. The angle of all such measurements is provided, allowing full visualization of the parts' shape. A full set of ANSI geometrical measurements, such as concentricity of diameters and flatness of faces is also furnished. This information is obtained for each component part, and serves as a valuable preview of the part's condition. It is also required for predicting the optimum build using the predictive software.
Axiam's GMS-4000 and GMS-5000 roundness measurement gauges provide unique advantages not obtainable from any other product. These scalable gauges improve productivity that Axiam estimates will pay for a customer's investment almost immediately.

The following are some notable features. A detailed listing of unique features and capabilities is found in the Assembly Process Comparison Chart.
- Automatic Part Alignment in three dimensions to correct for any tilt and off-center in the part setup. The gauge software also corrects profile data to remove any bias due to tilt of the part;
- Automatic Probe Calibration allows for an operator to compensate for an changes in probe attitude and probe tip length;
- Descriptive Information such as part number, serial number or alpha-numeric descriptions appear directly on the screen or are printed.
- Interactive Graphics allows for the overlay of the minimum circumscribed circles (MMC), maximum inscribed circles (MIC) and minimum radial separation (zones);
- Geometric Part Features such as roundness, concentricity, flatness, runout and squareness are computed and displayed after one rotation of the part;
- Simple Setup using pull-down menus;
- Magnification of Screen Sections allows for easy analysis or review;
- Measurement on Screen Capability using least squares, best fit circles, maximum inscribed circles, zone circles and centers facilitates review;
- Precise Mathematical Calculations carried to 18 places (English or metric).
